The shop facility is the Heart of the SCVR. It's where all the SCVR engines are cleaned, housed, and maintained. The shops have gone through many different changes over the last year. We first started out with that small grey shop you see on the left. It started the SCVR back in June of 2011. In october of 2011 a second shop was added. It was a small red shop equivalent to the size of the grey one. It was used for 3 months until my life-long dream of having a walthers 3 track shop came true. I aquired the kit on January 18th, 2012. It took two days to build and after two days it was placed on the layout and the track was connected. Today is houses my 6 favorite steamers of the SCVR. The grey shop is now called the auxilary shop and it will house SCVR 99 during her restoration. It also houses C&O 425 and SOU #3857. They are rotated in and out periodically. Right now #99 is in the shop recieving work. Future plans call for a turntable and roundhouse to be built southeast of the shops. This is so we can turn engines around and so we can have more space to house are larger locomotives.
As of Fall 2012, we have a turntable roundhouse, and Hyde's Seybold Locomotive Works! We moved our auxilary shop by the roundhouse and we will build a newer, bigger auxilary shop in the future next to the main shop!

The Main shop
The main shop of the SCVR was constructed on January 22nd, 2012. It replaced a smaller 2 track red shop that was used for months before. This huge walthers 3 track shop is 10 inches wide and 18 inches long! It house the 6 favorite steamers of the SCVR. Those are SCVR 66, SCVR 5, SP 1601, Climax 1, CVLC 25, and SP 33. This shop will be permanent due to its size. It has 3 tracks and 1 that projects all the way to the back of the shop. Most spare parts are stored in here. At any given time there are around 3 or more locomotives outside the shop awaiting work.
As of Summer 2012 we have changed the main shop dramatically! Instead of having only 1 track project outside of the shop we machined a new wall and knocked down the old one! This will allow 3 tracks of project storage outside of the main shop! This way certain pieces of equipment can be switched in and out quicker and easier!

The Auxilary Shop
The Auxilary shop was the first shop ever built for the SCVR. Built in June of 2011, this small 10 inch long shop housed at the time the only 2 SCVR steamers, SP 1601 and SOU 3857. It has seen over a dozen engines inside the shop getting various repairs or just being away from the dust. Various repairs are still done at this shop but its main purpose is to house SOU 3857 and Rio Grande 3. This shop helped start the creation of the SCVR. It's and important piece of ongoing maintenace but also a piece of SCVRs history. The plan is to keep the shop being that no other shop could fit.

The Turntable
The turntable project has been a long term project for the SCVR for many years, it wasn't until the last week of July 2012 that we got started on it. It took a week to clear out the rolling stock, and pull up all the tracks and buildings in the way. Then on august 11th, 2012, the turntable was purchased and installed! The old SCVR red shop is used to house SCVR 0-4-0 #99 and SCVR 0-4-0T #98 On the outside tracks we store our diesels, auxilary tenders and some steamers for now that it
The Roundhouse
As of October 10th, 2012 we officially have built our planned 3 stall roundhouse to go with our turntable! This is just what we needed and we are excited to add this roundhouse to our evergrowing fleet of shop buildings! You will be able to tour this roundhouse when our line is finished! Ride the turntable while you're there!

Seybold Locomotive Works Shop
Built on September 16th, 2012, Hyde's new shop for his private projects, DLC 2-8-0 #3 and SCVR 0-6-0 #2, John Deere #4, SLW #1, and SSW #605 This shop was just what Hyde wanted and will likely be placed next to the auxilary shop on our new line! Tours of this shop are not availible through us, you will have to contact Hyde directly for a shop tour request, don't worry, he's a very friendly guy and will likely say yes to a tour of his shop.
